Content quantity is very good for the company, but content quality is what customers are looking for in the end. Be straight to the point, tell the customer, in as little words possible, what your offering is, the benefits of the offering, the price of your prep course, and what materials are included. It should be bang bang bang, from start to finish. Pretend the visitor to your site only has 2 minutes to view your site before moving onto the next one. If you have 100 pages of ridiculously dull content, chances are the customer will get scared off and go find another site that is simple, elegant, and to the point, telling them what the course is all about, what the price is, and what’s included. It’s as simple as that. The Police Ready police test preparation course is the epitome of an app that has been built to give the user complete control over a simple and well-structured online training course. The Police Ready system is extremely well organized, and contains nothing but the essential test and preparation materials needed by the end-user. Police Ready also utilizes their website as a quick and easy information kit that gives potential users all that they need to know about the system and nothing more. There’s no mumbo jumbo with this app, and there’s absolutely no text jungle to worry about with Police Ready. So, if you’re interested in an online training course to help you pass your police exams, stay away from the content-filled, disorganized, user-unfriendly training courses that care more about Search Engine Optimization than the quality of the bottom line. The bottom line of course being a training course designed to help customers pass their police tests and help develop their careers quickly, carefully, and with simplicity.

Okay so the other day I was browsing through some online police test preparation websites and it occurred to me that these sites are NOT taking advantage of the wonders that the internet has to offer in
terms of programming and application development. I will not disclose which website in particular that had me awestruck (in a negative way) when I was navigating through their police test training materials,
but let’s just say they are a “top” player in the online police test prep course field. I’m not a very claustrophobic person in general, but that all changed when I started browsing through their site and training materials.

Yes, tonnes and tonnes of content within a site is an amazing way to get your site optimized in search engines, but why not take a look at the site from a customers point of view? A person that is seriously considering various online police test prep courses will, quite frankly, get scared off when they are bombarded by pages and pages of text and content. When it comes to effective web-based training courses, simple is always better! A “text jungle” will only add to frustration on behalf of the potential customer who wants to learn about the course. Why? well.. maybe because they don’t know where to start once they are on a website looking for answers. Here’s an example. “Click here to start your tour of our course….. now click here to tell us what country you are from….. now click here to tell us this…. now click here to tell us that…..” There’s simply way too much clicking and scrolling for the visitor. People just don’t have as much patience as they used to because there are other sites that offer the same stuff as the top dogs, but with a much simpler feel that actually gives hope for the customer. Tours should be straight forward and every part of the tour should be easy to access instantly. However, if you’ve already clicked and scrolled through 25 different sections and you want to go back to see he 5th section again, it shouldn’t be an hour long process. And that is just one example of how big players in the industry are scaring customers off.

Let’s face it. If you are charging a higher price for an inferior product or service, the only way you’ll get a chokehold on the market is if consumers are unaware of the existence of your competitors. Why buy a plastic knife for $10 if you can get a brand new steak knife for $5? Well, if you aren’t aware of the steak knife then the plastic knife looks like a contender. Company’s sometimes don’t understand that competition is healthy for their success, because without competition, such company’s would get way too lazy to innovate and lose out on a lot of precious R&D opportunities or marketing opportunities. This notion is kind of like what is known in the economics world as “X-inefficiency”, which is basically the inefficiency that monopolies face due to the lack of motivation that would otherwise stem from the presence of competition. People don’t usually run unless they are being chased, the same can be said (analogously) for company’s. In the online world of police test preparation and career training , there are only a few company’s that hold an oligopoly on the Canadian market, but there still exists a sense of laziness and comfort amongst them. Things have been working out well in the past for them, so they casually go about updating their training resources and practice tests with no particular sense of urgency. Mistake number one! As long as the market environment changes, your company has to keep up with it in order to properly satisfy the changing demands of your target market. This is extremely urgent if you want to remain market leader in your industry. Some company’s are expanding into different regions or country’s, which is awesome and can drive up profits, but are they losing focus on the markets they are leaving behind in their quest for market expansion abroad? maybe. That could potentially be mistake number two! Police Ready is a brand new police training system that is completely customer-oriented. Sure it’s not internationally known (yet), but it delivers non-stop value to its users. Value is everything when company’s are in competition with others, because all said and done, value is what you’re delivering to your customers in the end. And value is what customers look for when deciding between your training program and that of your competitors. Value can be derived from various things, but it usually comes in combinations. Our combination will remain a secret because it is a recipe that maximizes value for our target market, but here’s a little hint on what our killer combo is comprised of; what do you get when you offer superior, comprehensive police prep materials in a profoundly simple web-app, all at a dramatically low cost compared to better known competitors? It’s called Police Ready

Before developing any sort of software or web-based application, the developers have to carefully ask themselves what the purpose of the app is, who the app is for, and what exactly the end-user needs in the app. There are countless functions that can be included in any given app, but what good is that if the customer doesn’t really need it? It’s no good at all, it’s quite bad actually. In my experience as a marketing professional and designer, I now understand that the more isn’t marrier when it comes to designing effective applications. On the contrary, less is actually best. Unlike other products that are always developed or produced to be one-step ahead of the competition, web-based applications are actually a lot more effective if they are one-step behind competition. Why? because the less you have, then the less likely you are to confuse the users of your application, and the more likely it will be that you are simplifying the usability of the app. My colleagues and I have been developing the Police Ready system for some time now, and one theme has reoccurred time and time again; Simplicity. Simplicity. Simplicity. Below are just a few of the many simplified features that make up the Police Ready system:

simple navigation

simple yet relevant and comprehensive content

simple, professionally prepared training materials

simple structural layout of our website and our application GUI (the Police Ready system)

simple and elegant page layouts

simple learning and teaching materials

simple wording of content (no professional lingo to make us look good and to make our users feel inferior or dumb)

simple functions that allow users to know what is where, and functions that can be easily accessed at any given time while using the system.

simple and quick solutions to help our users embark on and succeed in their futures as Police officers

We dare you to try out our system and prove us wrong! You can test drive our system absolutely free by signing up for a free PATI test. Just visit www.policeready.com to sign up.

Step aside boring and dull police test preparation programs, and make way for a revolution. Police Ready is proud to announce it’s long anticipated entrance into the online world. Most companies that offer police test preparation have gotten way too lazy and haven’t looked into the direction of the market. The biggest mistake a company can possibly make is to get too comfortable with what has “always worked”, while neglecting the importance of innovation, especially when there’s competition in their midst. This is where Police Ready differs from most company’s.

Although Police Ready is brand new on the market, it’s offerings and materials are the result of innovation and strategic thinking. Why not offer what everyone else does AND MUCH MORE? Why not charge a cheaper price and refrain from digging into your customers pockets for your own benefit? Why not create a web-based app that is extremely easy to use and can create an excitement amongst your customers? These are all questions that are addressed by Police Ready. The Police Ready system is much more than a police test training program. It’s a system that INCLUDES a police test training program. There are many reasons why Police Ready is the better choice. Let’s put it this way, if you wanted a hamburger for lunch, would you go to the hamburger joint that offers only a beef patty and a bun? or would you go next door to a place like Harvey’s where YOU decide what to put on the burger, and how much of it? In today’s world, the consumer decides what to do and when to do it. Police Ready understands this and encourages it’s users to take control of their police test training and career preparation.

We all know the saying “Patience is a virtue”, but that completely depends on the context in which it is being used. In such a fast-paced world, people have less time to sit around and wait for things to happen. Instead, they go for the gold themselves, and they take control of their destiny rather than waiting for it to fall into their laps. This is especially true in the online world. The internet gives the user complete control of the content in which they delve into, and as long as we have a keyboard, the ball is in our court. When is the last time you opened up your browser and sat there waiting for a website to start loading without typing a single word? Exactly! People don’t just sit around and wait for things to happen. When it comes to taking online training courses of any kind, people should be in complete control of when they decide to do things, and at the pace that they want to do them. You can’t tell people that they have 10 minutes to complete a test or else they will fail. This is a training course, and remember, there are many reasons why people should be allowed to learn at their own pace. Here are just a few for consideration:

You can’t expect people to read and type at exactly the same rate, so why do they have to train at the same rate? it’s not fair!

What happens if there is a knock at the door, or what if the phone rings? are you going to say too bad so sad? no! that’s not fair!

What happens if nature calls? do you expect the individual to suffer the consequences of holding it in? no! let them do their business!

And the list goes on. The moral of this article is that if you are offering an online training course, you have to respect the users space, time, and individual differences. You may be able to establish what they learn, but you have to understand that you are in no position to dictate how they learn! It’s a training course! Sure, it may be important to recommend endurance training tips, or set out particular time constraints that they may have to face while they write the real exams later on, but while they are learning the material, let them do what works best for them. Then you can start timing them according to the standards of the exams in question. Applications have all the patience in the world. They won’t fuss or complain, but your customers will if you can’t let them take control of their learning environment.
